Driving is generally a bad idea in Boston. There are few signs, navigating the streets is complex, local drivers and pedestrians are crazy, and there is limited/expensive parking options. If you do plan on driving into the city, we recommend parking the car for the day and then walk/use the T to get around. Here are some parking options.
60 State Street at Faneuil Hall:
Located close to the Ames with easy access to Faneuil Hall and the
Millennium.
Dock Square Garage: Located at 20 Clinton Street across from the
Millennium (the Hard Rock Café is located in the front/bottom of the
building).
Government Center Garage:
Located at 50 New Sudbury Street, it is an easy walk to the Millennium.
Be aware, however, that rates are different if there is an event at the
Boston Garden that night.
Boston Harbor Garage:
Located close to the Marriott Long Wharf at the intersection of
Atlantic Avenue and Milk Street directly next to the New England
Aquarium. The garage is within walking distance of the Millennium.
Garage at Post Office Square:
Located in Boston’s financial district, you can enter the garage on
either Pearl Street or Congress Street. While a little further from the
tourist attractions, this garage makes up for the inconvenience with
better rates. Post Office Square is about a 5-10 minute walk to the
Millennium (depending on your pace). For those driving to the
reception, don’t mind walking and are not interested in paying for
valet parking at the hotel, this offers a more affordable parking
option.
Boston Common Garage:
Located under the Boston Common with access on Charles Street (between
the Common and Public Garden). Good place to park to visit Back Bay,
Beacon Hill and the Common/Public Garden.
If you park on the street, be sure to read any parking restrictions. Boston has a lot of street parking that requires a resident parking sticker.
Lastly, here are some websites that offer a more comprehensive list of parking and rates in the city.
